I fondly remember dropping my controller and blasting the volume on my tv when I first heard this song in the game. I played Cold Steel 1 years before I got into headphones. This is my all-time favorite track in the Legend of Heroes series. Thankfully you can't see my face because I actually teared up a bit hearing this track. My friend took a picture of me when I played this song during my session It's exciting and gives you a version of this song you never heard before compared to listening to it on other headphones. Now all my pricy headphones I own can do the same things I'm describing here but the HE1s take it to a whole other level. It felt like I was mentally picturing exactly when the drummer hit each part of the drumkit. Cymbal sounds are extended and sound very natural. The drums are fast, clean, and impactful without any hint of muddiness whatsoever. Surprisingly, the standout of this track is the drums, highlighting how great the bass is on the HE1s. However I ultimately decided on this track from P5R instead. I thought about playing "Forced Battle" from Nocturne since the remaster recently came out and so that I could make the joke of " Even on $60000 headphones, I still dont know what the lyrics are". Maybe I should try that dubstep track if I ever have the chance to demo these headphones again lol
Wanted to try a track that's little more traditional FE and didn't have the synths that a lot of Three Houses music had. Probably disappointed that I didn't pick a Three Houses track correct? I was heavily considering it since I really loved the game's ost but I ultimately decided with my favorite track from Echoes. It makes me wish Sennheiser would make an "HD800" version of the HE1s as their next project For detail and layering, the HE1 makes this track truly sound special and unlike any other headphone I tried with this song but it doesn't replicate the "sitting front row in the audience" experience that I would like with orchestral tracks. The strings on the far left sound right next to your ear and everything else sounds in your head, not in front of you. However, it suffers from how closed and intimate the headphones sound. It was mesmerizing to hear this track because it sounds so different compared to playing it on my other headphones. The individual strings, the piano, everything, it was so easy to pinpoint each instrument and focus on listening to them including the various instruments playing very quietly in the background like the drums.

I was able to close my eyes and actually picture something like a timeline on an editing software like Audacity or Sony Vegas where each instrument is on its own track. This track showed how effortlessly the HE1s separates and images multiple instruments. Here are my impressions of the songs I chose from each franchise to play on these amazing headphones Sorry Final Fantasy fans, no Airbuster or One Winged Angel from FF7R :P Maybe next time. It was hard to decide which games to choose since I was running out of time but I ultimately decided to stick to one song each from my personal JRPG holy trinity : I was very fortunate to receive permission to connect a laptop with my music library since a lot of streaming services do not have huge selections of video game music to listen to. After listening to one track from various genres to test them out, I decided it would be fun to listen to video game music on them to close out my session. And even then, soundstage is more of a personal preference imo. Any genre I listened to (EDM, jazz, rock ,orchestral, etc) sounded wonderful on these headphones as long as you're not looking for wide soundstage. It does all of this while effortlessly imaging and separating multiple instruments in a song while providing detail and information that I couldn't or struggled to hear on even my Empyreans and HE6SE.
Mids are still natural and lush like the HD600 line. It's the signature closed, intimate, in-your-head sound but the bass is now so clean, fast, and orgasmic while the treble is now very well extended but not harsh. To quickly describe the sound of the HE1s, they're the HD600 line of Sennheiser headphones on steroids. I'm just fortunate enough to even get to listen to this sick setup :)

Plus one session isn't enough to evaluate anything but I can't be picky.

I still don't know half the vocabulary audiophiles use (while trying to use same vocab myself lol) and I never learned how to play an instrument so I apologize in advance if anything I say sounds confusing or I don't use words correctly. I also own the HD660s that are most comparable to the HE1.
The most expensive headphones I currently own are the Meze Empyreans ($3000) and the Hifiman HE6SE ($1800).
